Martin is an experienced RICS Registered Valuer who joined Vail Williams as partner from Lambert Smith Hampton where he was a Valuation Director for 23 years, and Regional Head of Valuation.

Martin is experienced in the valuation of property within the Thames Valley, M3 corridor and Oxfordshire markets where he has gained an extensive appreciation of the commercial and residential property market.

He specialises in commercial valuations for industrial, office and retail uses but has particular expertise in the valuation of science parks, industrial estates, shopping centres, data centres, student housing, car showrooms and waste transfer stations.

Development appraisals also form a key area of Martin’s skills, including residual valuations of commercial and residential schemes.  Within this sector he specialises in larger developments of flats for private sale and Build to Rent, as well as office to residential conversions under permitted development.

Martin also advises all the main UK banks as well as many of the specialist lenders.  Throughout this career, he has developed long-standing relationships with some of the key public sector bodies within the Thames Valley region, including councils and blue light services.

In recent years, Martin has provided valuation advice on the redevelopment of Reading’s Station Hill and Minster Quarter sites – two of the most ambitious residential and commercial redevelopment sites in the South East.

He has also provided valuation advice in relation to the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus in Oxfordshire.

In his own time, Martin plays keyboards in a rock band and helps to manage a live music venue in Hampshire.  He is a keen organic gardener and has a strong interest in environmental issues and conservation.
