Elise Thompson

Elise joined Vail Williams as a Senior Surveyor and is based at our Crawley office where she works in the Valuation team.

She previously specialised in providing financial viability assessments and did this exclusively to public sector clients in her previous role, where she worked for over 40 Boroughs, including 20 London Boroughs.

The most important thing to me when advising a client is that I give them confidence in their decision making by providing a personable and comprehensive service.”

Elise also undertakes valuations – both Red Book and for negotiation purposes – rent reviews and lease renewals and has advised on the viability of Local Plans and CIL assessments.

When working with public sector clients, she works hard to not only achieve their sustainability goals in terms of affordable housing, but also provide training to help those not familiar with the art of valuation, development appraisal, or financial viability, to make decisions with confidence and authority.

Elise studied for her Masters part-time and dedicated her research project to the proper valuation and appraisal of viability for Build to Rent developments in Greater London, which eventually led to the Course Directors Prize.

She is an Ambassador for Lionheart, a charity aiding surveyors in need and their families and has been awarded the Young Surveyor of the Year Award in commercial property.

The thing I enjoy most about my career has been the outreach. Surveying has opened up a worldwide network for me; I have found myself tutoring candidates in Saudi Arabia and Hong Kong, campaigning with Lionheart Ambassadors nation-wide, and making deeply cherished friendships through the APC process, some of which led me to Vail Williams!”

Outside of work, Elise is a bookworm, a member a local theatre group and, having married into a petrol-head family, is on a journey to discover Formula 1.
